A BIT OF BACKGROUND
About Us- Trevy and Mary Winterstrom married 1976, have 4 children, 18 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren + lots of dogs.
My husband as a young boy would come home with dogs usually some kind of Lab mix. After we moved into our 2st home in Vista, we bought our 1st pure bred Labrador Retriever puppy, a chocolate female and named her Tootsie. About a year later we adopted a beautiful pure bred Black Labrador Dog named Butch, he had a nice block head and we fell in love with him. He was 9 months old. Nine months later Tootsie had a litter of 12 puppies. We sold those puppies to happy families.
Our next pup we bought was Sasha a yellow lab and we bought a yellow male a few years later and Named him Blizzard. We bred them and they had a litter and we sold those to happy families.
Fast Forward after the kids were grown, we moved into our 3rd home- One day Trevy and I went to a dog show at the high school in our hometown of Vista. We met a very special woman Lauren Bullock who was showing her dogs at the show. We asked her if she would sell us a pup and told her we are interested in breeding and possibly showing dogs. She took our phone number and soon we were co-owners with a top breeder from a top-quality show dog and hunt test champions on both sire and dam breeding lines. Trevy went and trained with her and her dogs at Prado a hunt test training facility with our dog Olive, soon Olive received her JR Hunting certificate. It takes a lot of time and work to train and go to shows and so we decided to put that on hold and have a litter instead. Having a co-owner meant that the co-owner would get pick of the litter when pups were born. Olive was bred and had an exceptional litter of 12 pups. We kept a girl Raven, and a girl Oreo went to our granddaughter Grace and our co-owner, breeder, mentor and now friend kept her top pick “Seeya” who went on to get her grand champion title, and the rest went home to happy families. Time got away from us, we waited too long to breed Raven she was not able to get pregnant, thank God we were able to have a litter with Graces dog Oreo. Oreo had 3 pups, Piper, Cookie and Oakleigh. We kept two and became co-owners with our daughter with the third one.
In 2019 Trevy retired, and we moved to our 4th home in Mariposa, California a Ranch with 40 acres. We branched out to Cows and Dogs, I’m not sure which ones cost more to raise.
Learning from earlier mistakes, we decided to get a good start on breeding the girls. We had all three bred and in 2021-2022 we had 3 litters. We were blessed with beautiful pups and great families who bought them. We kept a pup from each litter, bring our family from 2 girls to 5 girls, plus my daughter Rebecca kept a chocolate pup.
Last year we lost our pup Liberty “Let Freedom Ring” to a rattlesnake bite, she was 10 months old she had a promising future, she was from Cookies litter and her life was cut short. We miss her and think of her often. Cookie just had her 2nd litter June 30th, 2024. Her puppies will be ready for the new forever homes end of August. If you are interested in purchasing a pup let me know. I will be posting pictures soon.
